As of tomorrow, Bedford Stuyvestant will no longer be a frozen-dessert desert. Noticing the area hadn’t had a proper ice cream parlor in more than a decade, local entrepreneur Garland Shields decided to found a cone-and-cup shop called Frozen Social just a few steps from the Franklin Avenue C stop. Starting this month, Frozen Social will offer organic and all-natural varieties of ice cream, yogurt, gelato, and flavored ice topped with fresh-cut fruit instead of the usual chocolate and caramel. The striking whitewashed parlor is “part of a growing trend of beautiful businesses in Bed-Stuy,” says Shields. After a soft opening preview tomorrow, the venue will fully open by the end of the month.
