You’ve all surely heard about Del Popolo by now, with their fancy, glass-walled pizza truck with an on-board, honest-to-god-from-Naples wood oven. (Even Josh Sens mentions it as some of his favorite new pizza in town in the new San Francisco mag.) And for street pizza, Casey’s Pizza and The Pizza Hacker are still kicking around their carts. Well, leave it to Jonathan Kauffman, now at Tasting Table, to discover another pizza truck/trailer in the far-off land called Fisherman’s Wharf: Carmel Pizza Company (parked at Jones and Beach). And he says it’s really good! He recommends their Caprese pizza, as well as the porchetta sandwich, which he says “may be even better” than the pizza. What’s more, they give locals a $1 discount!
