The team of Duncan Ley and Ben Bleiman (Tonic, Bullitt, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, Rebel, and the just opened Lightning) have just added a sixth bar to their swiftly expanding bar empire, and one just around the corner from Tonic and Bullitt in Polk Gulch. Along with partner Cory Hunt they have taken over the lease at Gold Star Bar (1548 California Street at Polk, formerly California Dreamin’), which just opened in March, because as Eater reports the owner there got “pulled into another business.” They have not settled on a name yet, but the working title that shows up on a liquor license app this week is Rally. They’re aiming to switch things over as of September, and will remake the new bar slightly, with a drink program similar to Tonic’s — and probably with the addition of their signature Jameson and Fernet on tap.
