Closings

As Predicted, Trigger Has Closed in the Castro [Updated]

The last outpost of Greg Bronstein’s Castro bar empire has given up the ghost as Grub Street learns today that Trigger (2344 Market Street) has closed. As we reported last month, Bronstein sold off the liquor license of Trigger — along with the liquor license at nearby Lime, which is becoming S.F.’s first gay sports bar this fall — and it was only a matter of time. However now it looks like bankruptcy proceedings must have begun, and a tipster sends in a photo of the sign on the door at Trigger today that says it has closed “pursuant to the direction of the court-appointed receiver.” Any new operator will, of course, need to scare up a new liquor license for the bar, so you can expect the space to lie sadly dormant for at least the next four months, if not longer. Update: Well, it looks like they’re opening up again for Pride weekend, only to probably close again shortly.
