Roosevelt Island Updates; Scorpion Bowls at Marc Forgione

• A 28-year-old restaurant worker took a pizza slicer to his coworker’s face last Thursday. Paramedics and police met the two at the Greenpoint pizzeria that afternoon for treatment and arrest. [Brooklyn Paper]

• The Roosevelt Island waterfront is in development with several new dining options. The son-to-be-updated Riverwalk Bar & Grill will be joined by John Brown Smokehouse and a menu by chef David Santos on the pier for the upcoming summer months. [Eater NY]

• The Herring Festival at Aquavit will run next week from June 11 to 23. The restaurant’s celebration will host a $35 three-course herring prix fixe at lunch in addition to the traditional Swedish smörgåsbord, serving favorites such as Swedish meatballs, gravlax, and herring. [Grub Street]

• Christine Ha was introduced on Gordon Ramsay’s Masterchef as the first blind contestant on the show. Ha was recruited to the show after the casting department found her blog, theblindcook.com. [NYP]

• UWS’s Sugar and Plumm has announced Pichet Ong, author of Pastry Provocateur, as the brand’s Executive Pastry Chef. Pichet will introduce innovative treats among traditional favorites, including a giant homemade raspberry-apple poptart and a lemon-blueberry crème brûlée tart. [Grub Street]

Marc Forgione has just added scorpion bowls to his summer menu. The bowl combines fresh juices and over eleven ounces of alcohol poured over ice and “slapped” with Thai basil leaves. [Grub Street]
