For this year’s Beer Week, Michael Solomonov and the rest of the Percy Street Barbecue crew are upping the ante on their annual Ride the Mechanical Bull night. They’ve turned it into a competition. Anyone can still take a whirl on the horned beast starting at 6 p.m., but at 8 p.m. it’s going to be a serious competitive challenge, open only to registered teams. Each member of each team will try their best to hang on for bragging rights and a trophy. Teams of five are required to sign up before 7:30 p.m. So far several local breweries and bars are signed on. And along with the bull riding, Percy Street will also be visited by the Craft Beer Can Car, a formidable four-wheeled wonder, which was constructed mostly with craft beer cans, and entered into the 24 Hour of Lemons race in Summit Point, West Virginia. So if you fail to mark out the bull, you can get a picture of yourself in this amazing car as a consolation.
