Castro Bits: Wasabi Bistro Coming; Flyers Joke About the Patio

It looks Instagram-y because it's so old.

A few bits of Castro restaurant turnover news: It looks like All Seasons Sushi (524 Castro) is changing hands and will become Wasabi Bistro. Grub Street notes a liquor license transfer going in as of this week.

Also, some readers noted a few flyers that went up around the ‘hood (since torn down) poking fun at the long-dead and sadly empty Patio (531 Castro) and owner Les Natali. Natali, who also owns popular bars Badlands and Toad Hall, has let the Patio languish for the last decade after renovating it five years ago, perhaps as a tax write-off. Rumor has it that while prospective restaurateurs have looked at the space, Natali’s deal terms have remained so unfavorable as to discourage pretty much anyone.

And while we still await further action at the former Bagdad Café/Criolla Kitchen space where new tenant SliderBar Café is expected to arrive soon, a tipster noted some moving activity yesterday at the recently vacated Soup Freaks space (499 Castro at 18th). We’re still looking into this one.
