Meadowood Hosts Napa Valley Wine Auction, Which Raises $8 Million

The posh Auction Napa Valley went down this past weekend on the grounds of the Meadowood resort, and this year’s event raised an even $8 million for local charities. As the Chron reports, individual lots of high-end Cabernets and such didn’t sell for as much as they have in the past, and the total take did not top 2010’s $8.5 million haul. But it was still a big party for well-heeled wine types featuring a live cheetah (the advertisement for an African safari that brought in $720,000), and a boisterous Emeril Lagasse who “charged into the auction tent with a Dixie band.” [Chron]
