Eater reports on the opening on La Otra Escuela, the sequel to Steven Arroyo’s La Escuela Taqueria. Opened last Friday on Beverly Boulevard, the taqueria obviously has to be a little different from the first, considering they are roughly 75 steps away from one another. The new Escuela, neighboring the owner’s Potato Chips, is set up in the small space formerly housing the flagship of Arroyo’s Cobras and Matadors, with about 100 pairs of wooden shoe inserts hanging from the ceiling.

Chef Jared SImons, , who decamped from Lexington Social House to join Arroyo, his past and present employer, is heading up a menu featuring tacos with crispy skinned branzino, pork ribs, and Maine lobster, along with “OG” hard-shell tacos with braised beef shank and entrees like skirt steak with chimichurri, bacalao tostadas, and a “butcher’s plate” with carne asada, chuleta, and pork belly among the selection. The restaurant will be open daily from 11:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. and stay open until midnight on weekends.

La Otra Escuela, 7615 Beverly Blvd. Los Angeles.
