“We’re going to have a Tiki party tonight…”

Tonight, The Spare Room is being commanded by Ivy Mix, a nominee for The Spirited Awards’ “American bartender of the year” and a mix-master at Brooklyn’s Clover Club. Starting at 8:00 P.M., Mix will serve Tiki-inspired creations using Atlantico Rum, while the bowling-enabled Hollywood lounge decks itself out in island garb and plays tunes that hopefully sound something like these.
Mix’s appearance kicks off a monthly “Evening of Tiki” summer series that will also feature Marcos Tello and Jason Schiffer, Richie Boccato of NYC, and Rocky Yeh, a full-fledged member of the Jamaican bobsled U.S. Tiki Team, in the months to come.
