A little while back we told you about Hopscotch (1915 San Pablo Avenue), a new Oakland restaurant serving “creative interpretations of global bistro fare” with a slight Japanese bent from a former Yoshi’s cook. Now the place is ready to open this Friday, June 15. Chef-owner Kyle Itani has spent time traveling in Japan, in addition to work at Yoshi’s and at New York’s Meatball Shop, and he hopes to bring a Japanese sensibility to both the service and the food at the new restaurant. Today we bring you a preview of the menu, including some signature cocktails and the by-the-glass wine list.
The small, 40-seat restaurant is just two blocks from the Fox, and features a new Carrara marble bar, a natural cork checkerboard floor, and schoolhouse light fixtures.
