Next Wednesday, a gang of Culver City restaurants will face off in a spiked lemonade contest coinciding with the summer solstice and the grand opening of Expo Line’s Culver City station, meaning more than a few well-situated revelers won’t have to worry about driving home for a change. Starting at 5:00 P.M. on June 20, restaurants including Akasha, Meet, City Tavern, Ford’s Filling Station, and Bottle Rock will mix up their own proprietary lemonade recipes, with Kay n Dave’s promising a Oaxacan mezcal lemonade and Rocco’s working on a “Jersey Shore” variety.

All the participants plan to have virgin versions for minors and the lemonades will be offered free as samples to bypass those pesky rules and regulations. Votes will be cast on the best lemonades with voters earning the chance to win a gift package of food and beverage discounts at Culver City businesses. The event goes until 9:00 P.M. and Culver City Expo Line rides are free all that day. See the growing list of participants in the spiked lemonade battle below.
