El Faro, the 50-year-old Mission taqueria owned by Febronio Ontiveros that’s credited with the invention of the super burrito, is expanding once again, this time to the former Taqueria El Balazo space at 1654 Haight Street. As you may recall, the whole El Balazo chain got into some big trouble last year over the hiring of illegal immigrants, and both of their San Francisco locations have since shuttered. This will be the fourth location for El Faro, now, with two downtown and the flagship at 20th and Folsom. They’ve got hiring signs up on the windows, so this opening should be happening fairly soon.
