If the lines haven’t already started forming around the corner of 20th and Sansom streets, they’re bound to soon, because Philly’s first Shake Shack is less than a week from opening. A rep for the Danny Meyer burger empire told Grub Street this morning that the local outpost will start doling out its burgers, dogs, shakes and fries starting next Wednesday, June 6. There’s no word yet if the Philly Shake Shack will be slinging a cheesesteak-themed burger, but one can only hope. Surely the chain’s going to have to come up with something spectacular, because a simple ShackBurger is not going topple the mighty foie and bacon anointed Whiskey King at neighboring Village Whiskey.
