Philly Beer Week doesn’t kick off until next Friday’s “Opening Tap” ceremony at Independence Mall, but you can get a preview taste of what’s in store tonight at Johnny Brenda’s. Co-owner and former brewer William Reed recently teamed up with Dock Street’s Scott Morrison for a Beer Week collaboration brew, and it’s going on tap tonight at JB’s. The beer, which is appropriately named Johnny Berliner, is a Berliner Weisse style concoction that’s brewed with wheat, malt and gently hopped. It’s not quite as sour as Berliner Weisses tend to go, but bears a subtle tartness that should be perfect for quenching your Memorial Day Weekend thirst. It’s going on tap at 5 p.m. Stay tuned for more on Beer Week collaborations coming next week.
