Firestone Walker Brewing Company and Barney’s Beanery have put their heads together to raise funds for the education of children from U.S. families affected by war-time injuries. The two companies have united this month on “Boot Camp Beer,” a program that donates 50 cents out of every pint of Firestone’s popular “Pale 31” ale to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, which provides need-based scholarships to the offspring of Navy Corpsmen and Marines, particularly those who have a parent wounded or killed in combat. The program was sparked by Barney’s franchise co-owner David Sacher, himself from a military family, and is currently available at all five Barney’s locations from Pasadena to Santa Monica.
