Cocktails In S.F. Are Getting Better, and the Chron Is Doing a Top 100 Bars List

Two separate news items came out today confirming that San Francisco’s cocktail scene has finally, thoroughly arrived. Local cocktail scribe Camper English penned a piece for the Bold Italic about how the last decade of increasingly sophisticated cocktail menus about town has created its own demand for ever more well balanced, well mixed drinks. The trend has led to more concise, focused menus, and drinks that lean more to the classic in style, with just a few measured ingredients and none of this “muddling six different ingredients into the glass to create a unique, farm-fresh drink.” Also today Michael Bauer announces that the Chronicle will be doing a Top 100 Bay Area Bars list this summer, and he’s put out a call for nominations. Yes, everyone, we are officially a good-drinking town. [Bold Italic, Between Meals/Scoop]
