Atlantic City’s newest casino and resort, Revel, held a champagne toast at sunrise this morning to toast its debut. The sprawling, 20-acre beachfront destination, which will be home to restaurants from Jose Garces, Marc Forgione, and Robert Wiedmaier, to name a few, opens its doors to the public today, kicking off an eight-week preview period, NBC Philly reports. With its swanky, celeb-chef-driven dining options, theaters, nightclubs and shopping, the $2.4 billion megaresort aims to rise above the city’s old draw of slots and table games, and cater to the needs of a more sophisticated clientele with tastes tuned to the contemporary.

As we’ve mentioned before, not all of the restaurants and other attractions will be ready for Revel’s preview. For example, Garces’ Distrito Cantina and Guapos Tacos, a mashup of the Iron Chef’s popular University City Mexican spot and his taco truck, opens today. A second location of his Old City flagship Amada opens on April 9. The remaining restaurants will come up to speed in the weeks leading up to Revel’s grand opening festivities, which are scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend.
