51 Lincoln’s Jeff Fournier Tapped as Chef at Liquid Art House

Jeff Fournier turned Newton Highlands into a dining destination with 51 Lincoln, the ultimate upscale neighborhood restaurant. He was never really out on the scene, instead preferring to toil below the radar to make his baby great. And now, it seems that Fournier, who formerly worked for the Metropolitan chainlet, will head back into the big city again.

Liquid Art House has hired him, reports the Boston Business Journal. LAH will take the space formerly occupied by the Boston Renaissance School at 100 Arlington Street. Ruta Laukien, an investment banker turned restaurateur, has big plans for the space: 215 seats and a”mix of cuisines,” including her native Lithuanian.

““I’m very fluent in finance and I’m also smart enough to know what I don’t know, so I hired a chef and made him my partner. I’m a little scared, but that motivates me,” Laukein told the BBJ. We’re big fans of Fournier’s laid-back style, which is definitely well-suited to Newton. Hopefully it’ll play just as well in the Back Bay. And hopefully 51 Lincoln will be left in capable hands. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. The restaurant should open next spring.
