It’s not like it was a big secret or anything — Grub actually pointed it out some weeks ago — but today’s Inky confirms that Jose Garces will open yet another restaurant in Center City in the not-too-distant future. He’s taking over the first floor gift shop at the Kimmel Center. The deal was inked last week. While details are few, the forthcoming restaurant will have enough room to seat 80 to 100, including at the bar, and will open sometime early next year. There’s no word on whether or not this spot will be home to the 20-seat “gastronomic jewel” where the Iron Chef will “push the dimensions of his culinary art,” that Inky critic Craig LaBan alluded to back in February. Nor is there word on whether its opening will come before or after the long-awaited Frohmans Wursthaus over in Midtown Village. [Inquirer]
