Not only is Santa Monica’s tony Ocean Avenue gaining Blue Plate Taco this summer, in addition to the arrival of loooooong-awaited Mercado on nearby Fourth Street, but a new Mexican restaurant is taking shape in the former home of Detelich Arts & Crafts Gallery, which shares the block with The Lobster. A new Mexican eatery named Casa Martin is taking over the space, still firmly in the interior construction phase from owner Fernando Martin. No early word on what will be served (though tortilla chips would make an impressive first guess); just more evidence that this high-priced stretch of Santa Monica is going mad for Mex.
