Hope a Waldorf salad tastes good doused in honey, because the hotel has launched an initiative to raise honeybees — starting with 45,000, and aiming for 300,000 by the end of the summer. Under the Waldorf Astoria's director of culinary operations, David Garcelon, a team is installing six beehives in a rooftop space on the twentieth floor, along with a chef's garden. Considering everything else that goes on in the glitzy den of decadence, there could definitely be worse sticky situations. [Crains]
