A new, monthly open-air flea-market is planned to open in Venice starting April 7 called Venice Meet, bringing together live music acts with over 30 hand-made food producers, independent designers, and artists. Held on the playground of Westminster Elementary, the debut will find edibles and products from Ice Ice Shavi, The Rice Creamery, and Hepp’s Salt Barrel, along with jewelry, clothing, and craft vendors like My Rebe, Urban Octopus, JanieXY, and get this, no joke, something called Time 4 Cornhole, that is intended “for families” (is this really the best timing for that on LAUSD property?). What else sounds cool?
Possibly swaying the swap meet a little further from the typical Abbot Kinney young urban professional sinkhole we’re envisioning here, bands like The Dustbowl Revival, Song Preservation Society, and Leftover Cuties will perform throughout the day. And it’s free. The Venice Meet kicks off April 7 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. More details online.
