Over at Fork in the Road, François Payard weighs in on the topic of cupcakes versus macarons and the verdict is that “the cupcake is good for the kid market,” while the macaron is the dessert of “the everyday woman because it’s small.” But America, it seems, disagrees with Monsieur Payard. How else to explain the new 24-hour cupcake ATM from Sprinkles?

LAist has the intel on the one-stop, automated cupcake dispensary, straight from Sprinkles HQ:

This automatic cupcake machine dispenses freshly baked cupcakes, cupcake mixes, apparel and even cupcakes for Fido! In the heart of Beverly Hills nestled between Sprinkles Cupcakes and the brand new Sprinkles Ice Cream, 24 Hour Sprinkles will be continuously restocked day and night with a variety of freshly baked cupcake flavors.

It’s the first time we’ve ever heard of something like this, but we’ve already resigned ourselves to the fact that it won’t be the last.
