Radio Africa & Kitchen

Over in the Bayview, a long-loved pop-up finally goes permanent tonight: Radio Africa & Kitchen (4800 Third Street). Eskender Aseged’s Ethiopian-meets-Mediterranean-meets-California restaurant comes as the result of five long years of slogging in the nonstaurant realm in San Francisco, and after Aseged spent years on the line at Campton Place. We’re sure many in the Bayview will be watching closely as this restaurant, as well as the recently open Limon Rotisserie and the upcoming Brown Sugar Kitchen sequels, may signal a sea change for the Third Street corridor’s food scene.

Check out the new menu here, with entrées topping out at $18, and our photos below. And for some more background, check out this 2007 Chronicle profile of Aseged.

Please note that they are sold out for tonight, opening night, but they have reservations starting tomorrow, March 8. Make them by emailing radioafricak@yahoo.com or calling 415.420.2486.

Radio Africa & Kitchen - 4800 Third Street - 415.420.2486 - Open Tuesday through Saturday, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
