MBC, yo.

The time has come for the Mission to have its own bowling alley. Tonight at 6 p.m., at long last, Mission Bowling Club (3176 17th Street at South Van Ness) swings open its doors, complete with a full bar from the team behind Minibar, and a food menu from Mission Street Food’s Anthony Myint. They’ve only got half the lanes of the recently opened Lucky Strike, but is it too much to say they’ve got twice the heart? They’ve got twice the S.F. cred, anyway.

Grub Street has learned that, at least to start, they’ll be taking reservations for three of the six lanes, and the other three will be first-come-first-serve, beginning with their 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. happy hour (which starts next week). For this week, regular hours each day will be 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., and those will expand starting Monday, March 26. The cost to bowl is $35 to $55 per hour per lane.

Check out our slideshow of the bar and dining areas, as well as the shiny new lanes and balls. Expect many an ironic White Russian to be ordered in the coming months. The Mission, it shall abide.
