Co-owner Kathy Mecham tells Grub Street that Greenpoint favorite Five Leaves has some exciting expansion plans. The restaurant will take over what is now an office to put in a next-door meat-pie shop and espresso annex (since the Five Leaves takeout window gets pretty jammed on weekends), designed by Jim Morgan of Tall Cotton Supply. The savory pastries will lean Aussie-style (i.e., thinner crust and some Asian influences), and the outpost will also offer sausage rolls, some sweet pastries, and a few groceries. Sounds like the beginning of a very delicious trend.
