Over the course of the next three weeks, Jose Garces will debut three clones of his popular Philly restaurants at Atlantic City’s Revel, which kicks off an eight-week preview period on April 2. According to the Iron Chef’s reps, the three restaurants — that’s Amada, Distrito Cantina/Guapos Tacos and Village Whiskey — will each open within a week of each other beginning with Distrito Cantina/Guapos Tacos. Amada opens on April 9, and Village Whiskey on April 16.
The Distrito Cantina and Guapos Tacos mashup creates a margarita bar with a taco truck permanently parked next to it. Revel-ers will be given the opportunity to order things like Tacos al Pastor and enjoy them while seated a the bar sipping a margarita, or on their own as a take-away.
Amada will seat up to 300 in a sprawling, brown and orange Spanish tile-lined space with sweeping floor-to-ceiling views of the Atlantic Ocean. Whether seated at one of the Andalusian tapas bar’s circular brown leather banquettes, cream leather benches or high-top butcher block tables, or simply passing the conveniently appointed walk-up take-out window, guests will enjoy a variety of Garces’ sangrias, snacks grilled a la plancha, or mix of tapas dishes. With the full menu, the new Amada will also present guests with a signature La Mesa de Jose tasting menu feature that will offer a mix of Garces-selected tapas, all portioned for the number of diners at the table.
Village Whisky will offer an extraordinary selection of choice and hard-to-find whiskeys, creative cocktails and all-American bar food. Like its Philadelphia-based predecessor, the bar will feature black and white tiled floors, elevated banquette seating, antiqued mirrors, and a lengthy zinc bar. Of course the decadent, foie gras-topped Whiskey King burger will be a must for high rollers. In addition to the over-the-top burgers, menu options include housemade pickles, raw bar options, duck fat fries, and a bone-in dry-aged ribeye.
