Sausage Photo: Dorling Kindersley

If anyone should know the difference between lap cheong, chorizo, haggis, and longaniza, it should be the good people of Los Angeles, who have been steadily slapped by sausages since Wurstkuche first cracked its doors, leading to a full-scale German invasion of brat and wurst and whatnot. Judging from the global spread of sausages on our streets, the abundance of meats-stuffed-into-skins is far from just a Central European thing. Now we’re giving you wiener freaks the chance to go deeper.

This Monday, March 19, Dorling Kindersley is releasing a new illustrated guide called Sausage: A Country-by-Country Photographic Guide With Recipes by Nichola Fletcher. The book is a clear and colorful look at the major players on the world sausage scene, broken up by region and also detailing the preparation of dishes like merguez with ratatouille, Czech sausage pickles, and Spanish cocido. If you know DK, we’d bet our kielbasas that you know this tome looks great. Now how do you win a copy?

We have one copy of Sausage to give away gratis to one lucky Grub Street L.A. reader, a value of $22. To win the copy of the book, simply leave us a comment under the link to this very post on Grub Street L.A.’s Facebook page telling us which is your favorite global sausage on earth and why. We will take all the entries that arrive by this Sunday, March 18 at 5:00 P.M., mash them up in a huge mixing bowl with an electric egg-beater, then pick one sausage-jocking reader at random. We will announce the winner on Monday morning and send the brand-new book out to you as soon as we feel motivated to visit the post office.

See New York Magazine’s official contest rules online and get your comment posted to Facebook to enter to win!
