Sustainable standby Applewood e-mails to say that its owners, David and Laura Shea, have gotten into the farming biz. The couple has purchased land in the Hudson Valley, where they’ll grow produce and “raise chickens, rabbits, pigs, and bees” for the restaurant. To accomplish all this, they’re soliciting funds via Indiegogo in order to buy materials to build chicken coops and whatnot (along with the chickens themselves). Toggle over here to donate. In other crowd-funding news, a robotic-doughnut concept called Giant Donut is seeking funding in order to open somewhere in the East Village. Carb fiends can pitch in here, via Kickstarter.
