For tomorrow’s Fat Tuesday revelry, Chris’ Jazz Cafe chef-owner Mark DeNinno has flown in thousands of pounds of crawfish to get the good times rolling. Throughout the day, the cafe will be offering them in a $30 all-you-can-eat deal or in single buckets for $10. In addition to the the crawfish, Chris’ will also have specials on Sazeracs and Hurricanes, as well as Abita brews, including the elusive Mardis Gras Bock. At 6:45 p.m., the NOLA-inspired Hoppin’ John Orchestra will march down Broad Street in a Bourbon Street-style procession, turning down Sansom and onto Chris’ stage for a 7 p.m. concert. Complimentary Mardi Gras beads and slices of King Cake will be made available.

Across town, the Khyber Pass Pub is getting things underway with an 11 a.m. happy hour, featuring $2 Abita draughts, another Fat Tuesday happy hour happens at 4 p.m. Along with cheap beers on tap, the Khyber is also boasting that it has Abita’s rare 25th anniversary Vanilla Double Dog available in limited quantities. Keeping the party going, the West Philly Orchestra will rock some Dixieland jazz from 5 to 7 p.m., and there will be plenty of beads, t-shirts and other freebies and giveaways.
