Last summer we lamented the loss of our prosciutto-ball source, Joe's Superette, noting that the fried morsels could still be had at various spots around town — though it wasn't the same. Well now, Chow brings word that Joe's secret-recipe balls may live on at Original Ray's replacement Prince Street Pizza, which has brought in a longtime Joe's manager to make its fried balls. Joe's fritters contained ricotta, mozzarella, black pepper, and prosciutto cotto, just as these seem to: one Chowhound-er couldn't tell them apart. Commenters, has anybody sampled Prince Street's balls, and do they taste like Joe's? [Chow]
