The second annual Good Food Awards, the ceremony celebrating artisanal goods organized by some Slow Food alums with the help of Alice Waters and Ruth Reichl, went down Friday night at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Hundreds of purveyors of fine cheeses, preserves, beer, etc. gathered to receive medals and show off their wares, and to generally pat one another on the back for helping save America from a dismal fate of brand-name vinegar pickles and grape jelly. As Reichl said in her keynote address, “I never imagined that we would come so far, or so fast … While the rest of the world is slowly losing its heritage, we Americans are reclaiming ours.”

The full list of winners is here, including local winners like Let’s Be Frank’s Devil Sauce; Lagunitas Brewing’s a lil’ Sumpin’ Sumpin’ (that’s a beer); the speck from Oakland’s Adesso; and Chez Pim’s blueberry and golden raspberry jam.
