We have our first window onto Michael Bauer’s upcoming review of Parallel 37, the new more casual replacement for the Dining Room at the Ritz that opened last month, and it’s not so rosy. Repeating his multiple complaints of last year about the din in new restaurants like Locanda, he writes, “In the olden days when it was The Dining Room, the restaurant was one of the quietest in the Bay Area. The recent remodel to liven up the interior has gone to the other end of the noise scale.” Also, he adds, “Everyone wants a buzz, I understand that, but it should stop short of a roar.” His review is probably still a couple weeks off, but he’s already promised a “bomb” rating for sound.
