Way back in 2010, we laid out our thoughts on what kind of branding opportunities still exist for Pat LaFrieda, after the success of the meat purveyor’s Black Label and White Label beef blends. So imagine our surprise when we noticed a new green label burger on the menu at the Dutch. No! we though to ourselves. It can’t be. Well, no, turns out it can’t be. Andrew Carmellini and Co. let us know that their new green label burger is actually a veggie burger made with two kinds of mushrooms, black beans, ground beets, rice, and panko — and it has nothing to do with LaFrieda. Well, except for the name, which a rep says is meant to poke a little fun at the “nonsense” of custom burger blends. [Earlier]
