Reservations are available for the opening night of Tar & Roses, the new wood-fired Santa Monica small plates restaurant from local Andrew Kirschner, known most notably as the former executive chef at Wilshire over four years, as well as from positions with Joe’s and Table 8, among others. As the restaurant plans to be closed every Monday, the first night of available reservations this week is tomorrow night on OpenTable, starting at 6:00 P.M.
So far, the restaurant’s website is yet to be ignited, leaving it still a bit of a mystery as to what Kirschner is putting on his menu. A post on Squid Ink reveals an extensive selection of charcuterie, cheese, and bruschettas topped with the likes of chilled clams, foie gras, and salt cod brandade. Either way, the chef’s following at Wilshire and a drove of expectant locals will probably flock nonetheless to see what this talented toque is bringing to the former home of BreadBar, when Tar & Roses opens on Tuesday.
Tar & Roses, 602 Santa Monica Blvd. Santa Monica. 310-587-0700.
