Ed Schoenfeld Was Hazed by Chinese Restaurateurs

Redfarm's owner and unofficial "Jews love Chinese food" spokesperson Ed Schoenfeld confirms his Upper West Side expansion dreams and describes what it was like to be a Jewish guy living in a Chinese world, back when he was a host at four-star Uncle Tais Hunan Yuan. "At one point, a prominent Chinese restaurateur asked Schoenfeld to drive around with him and point out all the Jewish neighborhoods targets for an expanding empire of Szechuan restaurants," reports the Forward. Also, bad tippers were called jautaai, which means Jew in Cantonese. Obviously Schoenfeld is pretty hard to offend. [Forward]
