Danny Meyer’s 2012 is off to a great start: Yesterday he opened both Manhattan’s second Blue Smoke and North End Grill, which bowed nearby in Battery Park City. In a hotly anticipated move, former Tabla chef Floyd Cardoz has left behind Indian cooking to helm this place, with a classic American menu heavy on seafood and grilled dishes. The look is classic, too, with an elegant black-and-white decor scheme that lends the large space a clubby feel. It’s power-lunching only for now, with dinner to follow later this month.
