The Feed brings word of a Williamsburg newcomer called Mercado on Kent (at South 2nd Street), which suggests the wood-burning oven trend is truly on fire: There are two in the kitchen here, and one downstairs where Johnny Peralta (Balthazar) bakes bread. The spot serves those diminutive Basque tapas known as pintxos, which makes sense since chef Peru Almandoz hails from San Sebastián, Spain. A market selling charcuterie, cheese, and bread will open soon in the back of the space — explains the name, though didn’t we already talk about that whole market/marché/mercat/mercado thing?
