Recently opened (and even-more-recently reviewed) West Village restaurant Mas (la grillade) has decided to welcome 2012 with a new three-course, $28 fixed price lunch. Five appetizer choices include a coal-roasted shrimp tartine with pickled onion, arugula, and lemon; a version of the restaurant’s dinnertime favorite grilled squid with bay leaf also makes an appearance. Chef Galen Zamarra’s five mains include dishes like a bone-in monkfish with walnut gremolata and smoked celery root, and a decidedly more casual-sounding grilled-cheese sandwich with sauerkraut and cornichons. Plus, starting today, Zamarra will debut the la grillade short rib burger, bedazzled with grilled onions and smoked green peppercorn mayo, all served on a housemade English muffin. Lunch goes from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., seven days a week.
