Damiano’s Changes Identities; South End Buttery Spreads Out

North End: Damiano’s has abandoned its small plates approach. The restaurant announces that it will now be known as Carmelina North End. Per a rep, the redone space “will focus on big portions and Italian comfort food.” Says Damien DiPaolo: “Times change and trends come and go.” [Grub Street]

North End: There are also big changes in store at Mare. The organic restaurant will turn into an oyster bar come February. [Earlier]

Kendall Square: Aquitaine alums plan to open French restaurant West Bridge at 1 Kendall Square, the same building that houses the Think Tank and the Friendly Toast. [Chowder]

Kendall Square: Tatte, the Brookline bakery, has its sights set on a full-service Kendall restaurant, hopefully open by springtime. [Eater]

Harvard Square: Orinoco Latin Kitchen is now open. [Earlier]

South End: The South End Buttery spreads out: The Boston Licensing Board approved a license for a takeout location at 37 Clarendon Street and approved expansion for its current Shawmut Avenue digs. [Globe]

South End: A steakhouse will take up residence in the space formerly occupied by Patricia Yeo’s Ginger Park (and before that, Banq). [Earlier]

Back Bay: Berryline has opened Newbury Street Coffee inside their Newbury Street store. [Eater Boston]

Somerville: Great Taste Diner has shuttered. Guess it didn’t taste that great after all? [BRT]
