How do you improve upon being named “North America’s Best Sports Bar?” After scoring those bragging rights from ESPN last year, Chickie’s & Pete’s decided that erecting Philadelphia’s largest TV would do the trick. And now the local chain’s flagship on Packer Avenue is home to a projection screen that’s 18-feet across. Jeremy Drummond, who leads L2 Partridge’s design team for Chickie’s & Pete’s projects, told Grub Street that his firm was able to retrofit the enormous screen into a space above the main bar with minimal disruption. “We had to make some modifications to the bar to make it fit,” Drummond said. “And then we had it framed in with some oak millwork so it looks like it’s built into the bar.” He added that two shelves of liquor were displaced for the upgrade, but fear not sports fans, Chickie’s & Pete’s skilled barkeeps were able to find new homes for the ousted bottles of booze.
