East Passyunk Ave.’s Birra begins brunch service this weekend, and while a true breakfast pizza remains to be seen (we’re told they’re in the works), the rustic Italian and beer joint will have focaccia French toast on the menu. The dish features housemade focaccia battered, fried and topped with cinnamon sugar and molasses nutmeg syrup. Other brunch options teetering on the verge of stunt food include the aptly titled La Cardiaco, a combination of brisket, provolone, fontina, red onion, Anaheim and Fresno chiles, topped with spicy capacola and a fried egg on an Italian roll; Tiramisu waffles; and a brunch calzone with house cured pancetta, scrambled eggs, cured tomatoes, arugula, and mozzarella in a savory red sauce. Check the full menu straight ahead.
