Bauer Likes Lers Ros, But His Ears Hurt Something Awful

Right on the heels of Kauffman’s mostly positive review, Michael Bauer chimes in on the Hayes Valley Lers Ros, and for him it’s a lot about the noise. As he warned in this blog post, he declares the new Thai outpost to be “the loudest restaurant I’ve encountered in the past couple of years.” He still manages to mostly enjoy his food, saying that chef Tom Silargorn does some magic with peppercorns in his sliced beef and similar dishes with frog legs and wild boar. And he’s a big fan of the tom kreang nai, a soup full of “lices of liver, intestines and other entrails, and strips of preserved mustard greens.” Also he raves that Silargorn’s pad Thai “makes others taste like Cap’n Crunch breakfast cereal.” All told: two and a half stars.
