While our attentions have been fixed on Hollywood’s endangered Blue Palms Brewery, a major headline in L.A. beer news floated by us last week. The Boston Herald reports that local Angel City Brewing, which made the transition from its long-time home in Alpine Village to a street art-supporting space in Downtown last spring, has been bought by Magic Hat Brewing’s Vermont-based founder as the first portfolio purchase for his new label, Alchemy & Science Brewing Collaborative, a subsidiary of Boston Beer Co., makers of Sam Adams. Angel City founder Michael Bowe will remain in an advisory role for two years, while the purchase sets the scene for a significant expansion for his Downtown brewery. [Boston Herald]
