After we ran a story that New York chef Sam Goldman was returning to service after ten years with a new gig last month, a Grub Street commenter directed our attention to this photo, that finds Goldman standing center-stage on the book jacket for Kitchen Confidential, next to a hessian Anthony Bourdain. The StillRoom Seafood Restaurant and Lounge is now open in its strip mall location, serving fresh seafood and Goldman’s sustainable, market fare in a stately den-style spread of leather furniture, painted walls, and vintage European posters set off with vintage details like a raised fire place, marble bar, patio, an antique radio and typewriter, and a Victrola phonograph.

Goldman’s menu is not yet available and food details are currently slim, but the restaurant teases that he’ll be doting on bivalves and fresh fish, with the chef promising in a press release that “we’ll have the freshest, grooviest oysters and clams,” as opposed to the most adorable oysters we’ve ever met.

In addition, expect lots of handmade components like freshly made mozzarella and options for both a vegan and veggie clientele. And of course, there will hand-crafted drinks, with a special focus on sake and plentiful wines by the glass and bottle.

The StillRoom is currently open for dinner five days a week, Wednesday through Sundays at 181 E Glenarm St. #105. Pasadena. 626-799-0700.
