While food and restaurant culture continues to pervade all kinds of other traditionally non-food media, and the mighty Ouroboros of food writing settles down for a quick post-holiday coverage winter nap on the robata, the James Beard Foundation has announced four new categories for next year's awards: Joining the just-announced, restaurant-focused Outstanding Bar Program are the Food Coverage in a General Interest Publication and Food Coverage in a Food-Focused Publication categories. Also new this year is Visual Storytelling, which "rewards excellence in photography, graphic design, and photojournalism." The Foundation is accepting nominations for all awards during the next few weeks through its website.
