Closings

Goodbye, Lil Vinny’s

RIP
RIP

This weekend brought the sad news that red-sauce favorite Lil’ Vinny’s is going to close. The restaurant had been plagued by shutter rumors for some time, but we’d assumed everything was on the up and up when they announced in September that they’d begin serving lunch. Alas, ‘twas not to last.

RIP

Boston Restaurant Talk says that their last day will be December 31. A somber way to end 2011 indeed. Apparently, a “retro” bar called Daddy Jones will replace it. (The place will have an ‘80s theme, though we’re not quite sure what that could mean. Lots of Cyndi Lauper and Pat Benatar on the soundtrack, maybe?) Intriguingly, Aura chef (and OM alum) Rachel Klein will helm the kitchen. Stay tuned for more details. And get your garlicky red sauce in Magoun Square while you still can.
