Get your roast beef and red sauce while you still can: Three stalwart restaurants have announced plans to close this week. (Yet, somehow, inexplicably, Anthony’s Pier 4 is still around! How?)

Revere’s Maggio’s plans to shut down after nearly 40 years in business; improbably, they’ll close on New Year’s Eve. This is sad news for the calamari industry, as BRT notes that the restaurant purchases 15,000 pounds stuffed calamari per year. On a happier note, the couple who owns the place hope to retire to Florida.

Kelly’s Roast Beef in Allston, meanwhile, plans to shut down on Sunday after only a year and a half in business, per the Globe; apparently they just didn’t draw the expected crowds. Weird. We’d think that a greasy roast beef sandwich would be the perfect antidote to a crazy Allston night, but maybe not. The beloved beefery will retain its other mainstay locations.

Last but not least, the North End’s G’Vanni’s has slunk into oblivion; phone’s out of service and Open Table won’t take reservations, never a promising sign. BRT says that a place called Pellino’s will replace it. G’Vanni’s last gasps were marked by turmoil: End-of-days Yelp reviews include such laments as "I am so underwhelmed I practically cannot utter words" and "This is the WORST dining experience I have ever had in my life."

And yet, we repeat: Anthony’s Pier 4 still exists.
