Finnegan’s Wake’s Bid for Bodine Street Is Dead

Last week Grub mentioned that the City Council was considering turning over the underused and very narrow stretch of North Bodine Street from Spring Garden to Green to the politically well-connected owners of Finnegan’s Wake. PlanPhilly reports that that plan is now dead in the water. The bill to turn the street over to Finnegan’s Wake was introduced by outgoing City Councilman Frank DiCicco, who reportedly had reservations about calling it up without the Northern Liberties Community’s support. Since the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association opposed the measure, it was never brought to vote before City Council’s last meeting. In order to move it forward, DiCicco’s successor, Mark Squilla, must introduce a new bill in Council’s next session. [PlanPhilly]
